The
Lee/Charlotte Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association will
host the 15th Annual River & Blues Festival on Sunday, April 15 to raise
money for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The event is scheduled from 11 am to 7 pm
at Centennial Park in the Fort Myers River District.
The festival, which grows in popularity each year, will showcase nationally
and internationally known blues bands. Clarence Carter is scheduled to headline
the festival along with performances by Brenda B., the Cracker Blues Band, Dan
Shepherd and The Mercury Band, The Juice and Mambo Brothers. During the event,
food from 12 area restaurants will be available, along with children’s
activities. Admission is $7 for adults, and children 10 and under are free.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank serves the fivecounty area of Lee, Collier,
Charlotte, Hendry and Glades, providing food and hope to the hungry of Southwest
Florida. Children, the elderly and the underemployed make up a vast majority of
those in need. The Harry Chapin Food Bank, working through 147 partner agencies,
distributes enough food to provide more than 146,000 meals in Southwest Florida
every month. The organization is currently collecting donations for its Capital
Campaign, designed to raise $10 million to construct a new Harry Chapin Food
Bank. For more information or to make a donation, visit
