Lee Memorial Health System is holding a functional screening clinic for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Lee Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, 609 SE 13th Court, Cape Coral. “The Parkinson’s Clinic gives a person with Parkinson’s and their loved ones the opportunity to discuss concerns related to changes in function”, said Nathalie Grondin, coordinator of the LMHS Parkinson’s Disease Rehabilitation Team. All participants are screened by licensed therapists trained to detect physical deficits that may be improved with therapy intervention. Participants are also provided with a list of available resources including seminars, group exercise classes and support group meetings throughout Lee County. Each participant can expect to visit with a physical therapist to address mobility concerns, an occupational therapist to address self-care activities and home management, as well as a speech language pathologist to discuss communication and swallowing concerns.
