Blood drive honors terror victims



On the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a number of businesses and organizations from the Fort Myers area have joined Florida’s Blood Centers to hold a blood drive and Red Cross fundraiser. The 12-hour drive will be a tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Donors will receive a “Remember 9/11” T-shirt. They will also be entered into various raffles, including a grand prize drawing where the winner will receive a two-night stay at the Best Western Beach Resort, two roundtrip tickets on the Key West Express and a gift certificate to Nervous Nellie’s on Fort Myers Beach.

The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 11, from 7 a.m to 7 p.m. at Page Field Commons, 4995 S. Cleveland Ave. Donors should be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 102 pounds. There is no upper age limit. For more information, call 1-888-9DONATE. 
