Zonta Club gives $3,000 to Our Mother’s Home program

Our Mother’s Home was awarded a $3,000 grant by The Zonta Club of Bonita Springs-Estero for Nurturing Parenting, Domestic Violence Prevention Workshop and Early Childhood Reading Program through the Mentored Living Program.

Mentored Living Program is a 24-hour, all-inclusive mentoring service for the young women who reside at Our Mother’s Home. This program includes curriculum-based parenting classes, life skills training, independent living services, physical and mental health services, as well as education and activities that provide normalcy. Mentored Living Program provides adolescent foster mothers and their babies a place to live while learning the necessary life and parenting skills needed to independently and safely care for their child until they age out of foster care. The goal is to decrease the rate of high school drop outs among this unique population.

“I am thankful that The Zonta Club of Bonita Springs-Estero shares the same love I have for Our Mother’s Home mission,” said Karen Watson, executive director. “Their gift helps us continue to empower young women.”

Our Mother’s Home provides a safe and nurturing environment for up to 10 teen mothers and their children, many of whom have been in foster care or victims of human trafficking. The organization offers support to any pregnant or postpartum teen after their first trimester.
