Artists host Art Loft Food Drive to help Community Cooperative

The Union Artist Studios, Ocasiocasa and Studio 204 invite you to their first Art Loft Food Drive, Saturday, June 10, to help the Community Cooperative of Southwest Florida. The event starts at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items.

The food collection is in conjunction with the SoCo Second Saturday event at Royal Palm Square. SoCo refers to the area south of Colonial Boulevard, where many of the artists work and exhibit their pieces.

The artists hope the food drive becomes a recurring event and are counting on the help of patrons and supporters of the arts and SoCo Second Saturday.

The Community Cooperative is an innovative nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization made up of social service entrepreneurs fighting to end homelessness and hunger in our southwest Florida.

The agency provides more than 14,000 meals each month through its Community Cafés, Marketplace and Meals on Wheels programs. It also oversees emergency mobile food pantries as well as Healthy School Pantries and Food Literacy in Preschool through its Growing Health Kids Programs. Its website is communitycooperative.com.

The SoCo Second Saturday event happens every month, from 6-10 p.m. at the SoCo Cultural District of Fort Myers. For map and directions, visit socoswfl.com. ¦
