Shredding fundraiser aids Pilot Club
The Pilot Club of Fort Myers and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are hosting a shredding event on Saturday, April 15. The event will be held in the northwest corner parking lot of Miromar Outlets, across from the WINK Playground, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to the sheriff’s Project Lifesaver program. Donations of $5 per box to be shredded are suggested. There should be no binder clips or paperclips attached to paper being shredded. Commercial boxes will not be accepted. Individuals will be on hand to help drivers unload their boxes to be shredded; the boxes can be returned if desired.
Project Lifesaver aids individuals with Alzheimer’s and autism, as well as others with related brain dysfunction disorders who tend to wander. A personalized wristband that emits a tracking sign is worn. When caregivers notify the Lee County Sheriff’s Office that the person is missing, a search and rescue team responds to the wanderer’s area and starts searching with a mobile locator tracking system.
