ISLAND HOPPING

Make holiday memories by the sea

In case you are still baffled about what to get for loved ones this holiday season, consider a gift from the sea. Take some time to find a special shell along one of Sanibel or Captiva’s shellstrewn beaches. Consider having the shell fashioned into a piece of jewelry or give it just the way nature made it. In either case, it will surely be a treasure to your loved one. Like you, each shell is one-of-a-kind. For the active spouse or partner on your gift list, think about getting a kayak built for two. This area is loaded with excellent spots to kayak from. Every trip in area waters is a new adventure. Sometimes you might spot a bald eagle soaring overhead, other times a manatee might emerge right alongside your vessel. To get you started, Tarpon Bay Explorers offers daily kayaking tours for a reasonable fee.

Aside from traditional gift giving, spending quality time with your loved ones and yourself on one of the quiet island beaches, tucked away at a resort, might be just what is needed to recharge and reinvigorate. Keep in mind that our relationships are all living, breathing entities. Life sustains on life, not things. Make your gifts and life count this season. You deserve it!
