Artist and author team up to promote tolerance
ROBERTS Sanibel artist Myra Roberts and author Ella Nayor will be on hand for the opening of “Project Tolerance: Faces of Anne Frank” at The Holocaust Museum & Education Center of Southwest Florida in Naples from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. Ms. Roberts will sign her exhibit catalogue and Ms. Nayor will be signing her new book, “Faces of Tolerance: Everyone Counts.” The exhibit runs through Monday, Jan. 30.
Ms. Roberts’ 30 original oil paintings of Anne Frank’s life depict the innocence and joy that were ultimately lost when Ms. Frank’s young life was taken during the Holocaust.
Fort Myers journalist Ella Nayor, who writes a column for Florida Weekly, is collaborating with the artist. Ms. Nayor’s new book details the lives of some Holocaust survivors living in Florida.
“It is my dream that through our work, we will spark thought and enlightenment about intolerance and hatred,” Ms. Nayor says. “If we start taking the time to see each other as people all belonging to one human family, we can begin to live more peacefully as a planet.”
