Nominations sought for Edison Festival honorary grand marshal

The Edison Festival of Light Board of Directors is providing Southwest Floridians with the opportunity to nominate someone to be the parade’s honorary grand marshal. Nominating a local hero is simple. In 250 words or less, nominations can be made for honorary grand marshal and e-mailed to info@edisonfestival.org. Nominees must:

. Give back to the community on a regular basis

. Deserve credit for his or her good deeds but not always receive it

. Be an inspiration toward making the community a better place to live

Include the nominator’s name and contact information, along with the nominee’s name and phone number. The deadline for entries is Dec. 18.

Finalists will be posted on the Edison Festival of Light Web site by Jan. 4.

Through Jan. 22,

the Southwest Florida

community will be able to cast its vote for their favorite nominee. The honorary grand marshal will be announced following the Florida Power and Light Edison Day of Discovery just before the Illuminating Bed Race on Jan. 30.

As a tribute to his or her commitment to the community, the winner will earn a seat as the honorary “My Choice” grand marshal for the Edison Festival of Light Junior Parade on Feb. 14 and the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade on Feb. 20. The winner will also receive two VIP passes to the Grand Parade.
