Arts for ACT Gallery plans reception for December artists

Join Arts for ACT Gallery from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, for the opening reception for December’s featured artists, Raymond Hernandez, Lydia Fogarras and Katherine Boren. There will be vocal entertainment by the Young Artists Awards. The gallery is located at 2265 First Street in downtown Fort Myers. The reception coincides with Art Walk, held the first Friday of the month.
Raymond Hernandez is a contemporary artist whose does painting, photography, sculpture and installations. He has done illustrative art for numerous cosmetic companies, including Estee Lauder, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klien.
Lydia Fogarra was educated in a convent boarding school in the Carpathians. She studied art during the World War II in Belgrade at a private artist’s collective. The war led her to medical school in Belgrade, the Pasteur Institute in Paris and then to the St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu. She discovered her sub-tropical inspiration in Fort Myers and said goodbye to medicine and hello to art.
Katherine Boren studied at New York University and The New School, graduating from the State University of New York with a bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in sculpture. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York and California, and has been featured in many local galleries. She serves as executive director of the Young Artists Awards and is past president of the Alliance for the Arts. Having worked in cast bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, and wood, Ms. Boren is currently experimenting with multiple mediums in two dimensions.
Arts for ACT Gallery provides a contemporary exhibition gallery featuring original art, limited-edition prints, giclees, hand-crafted fine crafts, T-shirts, silver and glass bead jewelry, gourd art, raku, clay and art cards.
