Hunger Walk 2010 planned

Grab your walking shoes, gather your friends or organization and participate in the second annual Hunger Walk on Jan. 23. Participants can register a team or walk as an individual in the fundraiser for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The event, being held at Miromar Outlets in Estero, is sponsored by WINK News.

All of the money generated by the Hunger Walk will go to feed children and families in need. These are tough times and the dozens of emergency food programs served by the Harry Chapin Food Bank are in critical need for food. Because of the food bank’s ability to access food industry donations, the Harry Chapin Food Bank can distribute $6 worth of food for every dollar donated.

To register, go to harrychapinfb.dojiggy. com. If you’re not able to form a team, you can support the Harry Chapin Food Bank’s team by going to harrychapinfb.dojiggy. com; click on find a team; and make a pledge in support of the “foodbankers.”

Lois Thome of WINK News will lead the walkers on Jan. 23.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to needy people through a network of more than 160 local nonprofits, who provide food to more than 20,000 people monthly.
