Cape Coral artist wins national competition
Jeanette Chupack of Cape Coral has won first prize for acrylic painting in the Utrecht 60th Anniversary Online Competition. Winners were selected from more than 12,000 entries by 5,200 artists throughout the United States and included submissions within oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media categories. Thirteen were chosen to receive a special prize from Utrecht Art Supply. Jurors were from American Artist magazine.
Ms. Chupack’s winning painting, “Rounding the Bend (Myakka River),” is one of a series she is doing that is inspired by her many kayaking explorations of the rivers and waters in southwest and central Florida.
“I am very honored to have my work chosen from among so many qualified artists,” said Ms. Chupack. “It served to verify for me that my Florida landscapes are moving in the right direction and can communicate how I feel about the ‘real’ Florida that I enjoy from my kayak.”
Ms. Chupack’s work is in many private collections and institutions and has been shown in numerous competitive exhibitions throughout the country. At the recent 12th Open International Society of Acrylic Painters Exhibition in Santa Cruz, her painting won the Richeson Art Award.
Two of Ms. Chupack’s works are in the upcoming Annual Painting Exhibit at Rookery Bay Gallery Nov. 19 through Jan. 31, sponsored by the United Arts Council of Collier County and Rookery Bay.
