Alliance for the Arts hosts annual Walk Through the Arts

The sixth annual Walk Through the Arts, a preview of the upcoming season of art, dance and theater in Lee County, is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21. The event is put on by the Alliance for the Arts, with support from Publix Super Markets Charities, Oswald Trippe & Company and the Southwest Florida Symphony.
Once each year the Alliance invites galleries, arts organizations, artists, dance groups and theater troupes to preview their events and programming for in the upcoming season. Local residents and visitors will discover that the 2009-2010 season is filled with opportunities for artists of all levels, in all mediums. Demonstrations take stage in the Foulds Theater with mini-performances by: All American Dance Studio, Art Poems, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, Creative Theatre Workshop, Dance Alliance, Dance Theatre Academy, Fred
Astaire Dance Studio, Griffin’s Martial Arts Center, Gulf Coast Dance, Gulf Coast Symphony, Patchouli, Signature Chamber Concerts, SW Florida Fencing Academy and Young Artists Awards.
For those interested in visual arts, check out the main classroom where artists Pilar Baker, Terry Lynn Spry, Matthew Short and Jessica Barnett will be painting, sketching, sculpting and designing jewelry.
In between performances, visit the main gallery and south lawn to read up on the Gulf Coast Writers Association and learn about the Alliance for the Arts, Cape Coral Historical Museum, Lee Memorial Heath System – Arts in Healthcare, Tarpon Bay Explorers, Howl Gallery and others.
Have the kids step into an artist’s shoes at the interactive area with hands-on art activities while you browse the Green- Market and purchase a selection of locally grown produce, fish, breads, honey, smoothies, sandwiches, apparel, cleaning products, plants, flowers and much more.
