The Florida Southwest Chapter of the American Institute of Architects appointed announced its 2010 board of officer and directors. The new officers are: President Joyce Owens,

AIA, Brad Schiffer/TAXIS Inc.; Secretary Claude Pullen,
AIA; and Immediate Past President Carlos Urzola,
Associate AIA. State Directors are: Keith D. Gilbert,
Associate AIA; Amy Nowacki,
AIA, Architects Design Group Inc.; and Victor Latavish,
AIA, Victor J. Latavish Architect, P.A.
Ken Buschle,
head of quality control and specifications for Gora/McGahey Architects since 1988, has been elected secretary of the U.S. Green Building Council, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter serves an 11-county area on the west coast of Florida extending from Citrus County to Collier County. There are three branches within the chapter, located in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Fort Myers. Mr. Buschle has led GMA’s 20-year pursuit of sustainable design. He has implemented environmentally sound practices and oversees the firms LEED certification education program. In addition to the USGBC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, Mr. Buschle is a member of the Florida Green Building Coalition.
