Financing entrepreneurs subject of Venture Forum meeting
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY
The Gulf Coast Venture Forum, in association with the Florida Venture Forum and the Economic Development Council of Collier County, will hold its kick-off meeting for the 2009-2010 season Thursday, Oct. 8, at The Naples Grande Resort & Club.
The event will feature a panel of experts discussing funding options for entrepreneurs. The kick-off meeting is the only GCVF meeting open to the public. The panelists will explore the many options available, including owner financing, loans, joint ventures, a private placement, mezzanine financing and other vehicles.
"In this challenging economic environment, it has become more difficult for entrepreneurs to finance their startup businesses and expand their existing businesses," said Tim Cartwright, president of Gulf Coast Venture Forum. "There are many funding options available to these entrepreneurs, but many just don't know where to look. The business owner must make a critical determination as to who and what option serves him or her best. The panel will provide valuable insight on funding that is vital to growth and development of a business. Putting capital to work in innovative and entrepreneurial firms is the mission of the Gulf Coast Venture Forum."
The cost to attend the meeting is $65 if pre-registered and $75 at the door. This event will include a panel discussion, heavy hors d'oeuvres and one drink coupon. A cash bar will also be provided for guests. Pre-registration may be made online at www.floridaventureforum.org or by calling (813) 335-8116 by 5 p.m. Oct. 7.
In addition to the October kick-off meeting, Gulf Coast Venture Forum meetings for 2009-2010 are scheduled for Thursdays on the following dates: Nov. 12, Dec. 3; Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, April 8, and May 13. These meetings will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Tiburon Golf Course Members Club Room, 2610 Tiburon Drive in Naples.
