'A Tribute to Frida Kahlo' opening at daas Gallery

COURTESY PHOTO Frida Kahlo COURTESY PHOTO Frida Kahlo The daas Gallery celebrates the life and art of Frida Kahlo with a very special exhibition. An invitational collective of the best Southwest Florida artists will be on exhibit at the gallery during the month of August. Art inspired in the famous Mexican painter will be displayed and a "Thoughts of Frida" installation will be uncovered during the opening reception on Aug. 7. The daas Gallery promises a night of beautiful art, great friends and hors d'oeuvres.

Ms. Kahlo was born July 6, 1907, in the house of her parents, known as La Casa Azul (The Blue House), in Coyoacán, Mexico. Her life was short. She died in 1954, leaving the last entry in her diary: "I hope the exit is joyful - and I hope never to return - Frida."

She probably knew she had written an important page in the art world and that her job on earth was done.

The exhibition will be on display through Friday, Aug. 29.

For more information, visit www.daasgallery. com. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with additional hours on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. The gallery is located at 1542 Broadway St., Fort Myers.
