Lee EMS makes it to prestigious competition finals in Orlando
Lee County Emergency Medical Services earned a spot in the prestigious final competition of emergency medical teams from around the world in finals being held in Orlando.
The four-person team, along with coach Lt. Tom Pilsy, was one of five teams reaching the finals in the 26-year-old competition at the annual ClinCon clinical conference for emergency medical services. Teams are tested on
their ability to correctly diagnose and treat multiple patients in different scenarios within a brief time period.
Representing Lee County EMS in the competition were Paramedics Vince Macias and Adam Thompson of Cape Coral, Jason Ausman of Fort Myers and Rex Friedline of Port Charlotte. This is Lee County's fifth year of competition at ClinCon, and second year of making the finals.
"This honor tells the world that we work hard to give the residents and visitors of Lee County the best emergency medical care possible," said Deputy Chief of Training Scott Tuttle. "Most teams took 10 to 15 years to get to this level."
