Benefit for people and pets July 18
An all-out effort to collect non-perishable food and pet items on Saturday, July 18, by stores in Tanger Outlets, will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The Feed Our Families and Their Pets Food Drive will occur between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All stores will be collecting food and pet food items for the food bank.
Tanger Outlets is located at 20350 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers, two miles before the Sanibel Causeway.

Family fun fest set for Aug. 8
The Foundation for Quality Child Care Inc. is holding a Swashbuckler Family Fun Fest fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beacon Executive Suites Community Conference Center, 8359 Beacon Blvd., Fort Myers. The group is working in conjunction with Wilson Hawthorne, a Florida resident and author of the young adult novel "The Last Pirate." His adventure story is set in Southwest Florida, and is a wonderful read for the entire family. The Swashbuckler Family Fun Fest is a family event with games for children and a silent auction and raffle for adults.
Becoming Cosmopolitan date set
Grab your little black dresses and best girlfriends for Community Cooperative Ministries Inc.'s fourth annual Becoming Cosmopolitan event, to be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6-9 p.m. at The Veranda Restaurant in downtown Fort Myers. This women's-only evening features exclusive shopping with local vendors, gourmet hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, sinfully delicious chocolate and desserts
and a live and silent auction, all in celebration of the cosmopolitan lifestyle in Southwest Florida.
More than 200 local women attended last fall's Becoming Cosmopolitan event and helped raise more than $38,000 for CCMI.
