BROWN Denny Brown has recently joined the staff of Community Cooperative Ministries Inc. as chief financial officer. In his new role, Mr. Brown will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the nonprofit agency including all accounting, reporting, treasury and budget functions as well as overseeing CCMI's information technology operations and annual budget. Mr. Brown is a community volunteer, having served on the boards of CCMI, Amigos en Cristo, and other nonprofit organizations in Fort Myers. In 2004, he retired after 14 years as president of Linden Inc., an international finance and data-consulting firm.
Alejandro Garcia-Barbon has been appointed director of adult detoxification services at Southwest Florida Addiction Services. In his new role, Mr. Garcia-Barbon will be responsible for all adult detoxification services at the new SWFAS Detoxification Center recently completed on Evans Avenue in Fort Myers. He moved to Fort Myers from Rockville, Md., where he worked for IQ Solutions, Inc., as a senior technical advisor responsible for managing and providing technical assis- tance to several contracts for the National Institute of Drug Abuse and other National Institutes of Health, among other duties.
The Southwest Florida Museum of History Foundation Inc. announced the addition of two new members to its board of trustees and officer appointments for 2009-2010. Stefanie Ink and Jenna Persons have joined the foundation's board. Ms. Ink is a financial representative for Alliance Financial Group. She is also involved with The American Cancer Society and helped to create PAWS Lee County. Ms. Persons, a local attorney, is currently taking a break from her law practice to run for mayor of Fort Myers. Foundation board member Kristen Perkins has been elected to the office of president of the SWFL Museum of History Foundation Inc. She is a partner at Perkins Black, P.A., practicing general litigation. Longtime Foundation member G. Ted McGee, architect, will serve as treasurer and Oscar Ham, of Mimi's Café, will serve as secretary. They join fellow Board members Robert Encarnacion (president elect), president of Success Partners Group, Professor Erik Carlson, FGCU and Fort Myers native Barbara Cummings.
Four leaders in Lee County have been selected to lead the Harry Chapin Food Bank board of directors for the 2009-2010 period. They are President Jo Anna Bradshaw, Florida Gulf Coast University; Vice President Keith Scoggins, attorney, retired general counsel, Farm Credit System; Treasurer Sandy Robinson, president, Northern Trust Bank; and Secretary Noelle Melanson, attorney, Phoenix Law. The four officers will lead the 14-member board during a year in which there is an unusually large increase in need and requests for food from their network of over 160 nonprofit participating agencies throughout Southwest Florida.
