Fort Myers-based Stevens Construction Inc. has been awarded the renovation contract for the Twelve Oaks Medical Office in Zephyrhills. Construction is under way at the 7,500-square-foot medical office building and expected to be completed in the fall of 2009. The project includes interior demolition, reconstruction and the addition of a new fire sprinkler system. Upon completion, the facility will house a state-of-theart orthopedic medical practice with ancillary services. Christopher Cooke of Stevens Construction is the project manager; Mike Bussiere is the superintendent; and Lizette Martin is the project administrator.

J.L. Wallace Inc. has started the construction of two multi-use buildings for St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral. The project includes the construction of two 5,600-square-foot concrete block structures with wood truss and metal roof, all interior finishes and complete site package. When complete, the structures will house a chapel, classrooms and offices. Jason P. Tramonte Architect Inc. provided design services with structural engineering by Liebl & Barrow, civil engineering by Harrop Engineering Company; mechanical engineering by Kevatron Engineering; and electrical engineering by Jewitt Engineering. David Grossman serves as project manager; Dennis Tyeryar is superintendent; and Robbyn Spears is the project manager assistant.

Chris-Tel Construction was given an Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Restoration/Rehabilitation award from the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation for completion of the renovation of the Olga School at the 2009 annual Statewide Preservation Conference in West Palm Beach. The Olga School is located in Lee County in the Olga community, which was settled in the 1800s. The facility served as a school from 1927 to 1938. After its closure, it was used as a church and now is a community center. Interior and exterior renovations were completed, including removal of incompatible material from previous renovations and installing new electrical and mechanical systems. The facility is owned and operated by Lee County Parks and Recreation for the benefit of the area's children and nonprofit organizations.

Ryan Companies US Inc. has awarded Lehigh Acres-based Sunshine Structures a design-build contract to provide the structural design and shell construction for Mosaic's new Florida Operations Center in Lithia. The Mosaic Company is one of the world's leading producers and marketers of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients. Sunshine will provide all cast-in-place concrete, steel-reinforced tilt-walls and structural steel systems for this four-story, 113,600-square-foot building. Rorie Wilson is the project executive for Sunshine Structures; Noah Schnell is the project manager; and Jordan Whitney is the superintendent.
