BYRD Two members of the Compass Construction Inc. staff received certification as qualified stormwater management inspectors after completing the Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control inspector training program. Jim Smith, project manager, and Joe Luft, project superintendent, received the certification that enables them to provide site inspection, including specialty inspections such as erosion control, silt fencing and turbidity barriers.
Robert Greco, president, and Raeann Underwood, commercial contract administrator, of ACRA Electric Inc., have earned their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design professional accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. The LEED Green Building rating system is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. To receive professional accreditation, recipients must pass an exam that demonstrates their familiarity with the principles of Green Building and the LEED rating system.
Teely Byrd, vice president and licensed general contractor of Gulfcoast Consulting Group Inc. received his health care construction certification from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association. There are only 6,500 people in the nation that have this certification. The program involves a combination of pre-requisite e-learning and seminars that educate on the critical topics within health care construction, including latest compliance issues and needs of staff, patients and visitors when doing construction within health care facilities.
