Symposium on human slavery continues with program by former congresswoman
As part of its Human Slavery Symposium Series, Florida Gulf Coast University presents "Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking - Identification and Response to the Victims" from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 30, at the Sugden Welcome Center on the campus at FGCU. Edward Steinmetz, M.D. named program's medical director
Hope HealthCare Services president and CEO Samira K. Beckwith has announced the introduction of the Hope Parkinson Program, the only Parkinson support program in Lee County. Ms. Beckwith named Edward F. Steinmetz, M.D., as the program's medical director. Steinmetz has been affiliated with Neurology Associates of Lee County since 1973, where he will continue to practice. Sheriff's office issues pointers about debit card fraud
Imagine receiving a text message from your bank confirming you have deactivated your debit card. It says if you have any questions, you should contact the bank. Of course, you immediately call the number in the text message to say you have not deactivated your debit card. The person on the line is apologetic and offers to instantly reactivate your debit card. Full Story
'Shred Day' on tap at Fla. Community Bank
Florida Community Bank and Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida Inc. will host a free shredding event Thursday, June 25, at FCB's North Cape Coral Branch on Del Prado Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Goodwill's Secure Document Destruction service will be on hand to accept personal papers and other sensitive documents that will be shredded for free. Lee County honored by state planning and zoning association
The Florida Planning & Zoning Association has given its Long Range Study Award of Excellence to Lee County for the Lehigh Acres Comprehensive Planning Study. The FPZA presented the honor to the Lee County Community Development staff June 12 in Tampa during its annual conference. Full Story
