Writers seminar June 25 at Barnes & Noble

The Gulf Coast Writers Association will hold a mini-seminar called "Opening Doors the 'Write' Way" on Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in Fort Myers. Admission is free.

The mini-seminar will offer tips for professional writing from three members of the Southwest Florida community. Dayna Harpster, senior staff writer at The News-Press, will share secrets for getting an editor's attention.

Award-winning Florida Weekly

columnist Artis Henderson, will show writers how to get their foot in the door, and professional freelance writer Carol Defrank will teach how to keep the door open. A question and answer session will follow the hour-long presentation.

This is important because professional writing is a tough gig. Writers on all levels — freelancers, book authors, and public relations professionals — will benefit from the strategies offered.
