SMITH Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A. announced that Attorney G. Donald Thomson was recently recognized by both the Bonita Springs YMCA and the Florida Supreme Court. Mr. Thomson, who is managing attorney of the firm's Bonita Springs office, was named the Bonita Springs YMCA Volunteer of the Year. He played an instrumental role in the capital campaign for the Bonita YMCA and has served on the Bonita board, acting as 2009 chairman. Mr. Thomson also was recognized by the Florida Supreme Court as a certified circuit mediator. As mediator, he works with parties to reduce obstacles and facilitate voluntary agreements to resolve legal disputes.

Laurence J. Smith, with Smith Family Law Center in downtown Fort Myers, is now board certified in marital and family law. Mr. Smith recently opened his new practice and has established a one-ofa kind family law center now serving the 20th Judicial Circuit. Certified attorneys are the only Florida lawyers allowed to identify or advertise themselves as specialist or experts.
