June workshop focuses on creating herbal beverages
Join Slow Food enthusiasts for the Art of Herbal Beverages with fellow Slow Food Southwest Florida member and Edison & Ford Winter Estates Horticulturist Debbie Hughes.
The event is set for June 7 at 1 p.m. at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates Museum, 2350 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers.
The cost is $30, and includes a rare opportunity to learn from an expert how to create beverages, teas, liqueurs and decoctions from specialty herbs. Following the workshop in the Garden Glimpses room of the museum, Ms. Hughes will lead participants on a tour of the Estates heritage gardens and give instruction on how to grow herbs in your own garden. Organic specialty herbs will be available for purchase.
Edison's botanical garden contains more than a thousand varieties of plants imported from all over the world, including African sausage trees and a banyan tree, which was believed to be a gift from Harvey Firestone in 1925.
