Free summer theater downtown
June is full of theater in the downtown Fort Myers River District. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center and More Crinoline Productions are offering free theater during the monthly Art Walk to keep residents and visitors coming downtown for the arts during the summer. The play "Sure Thing" will be presented at 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 5. David Ives' "Sure Thing" stars Kym Yaeger Hoffmann and Michael Dunsworth. The comedy is directed by Annette Trossbach.
Upcoming plays include "Variations on the Death of Trotsky" on July 3 and an adaptation of Chekhov's "Swan Song" on Aug. 7.
Shows will run between 20 and 30 minutes. Donations will be accepted and will go to cover the costs of the production and the restoration of the historic Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center. The shows are being sponsored by local author Cherie Rohn, attorney Howard Freidin, real estate agent Kathy Stobb, and renovation specialist Bob Miller.
