Film shot in Fort Myers makes its debut May 29
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY
"Pose Down," an independent film shot in Fort Myers, is screening for the first time at the Lee County Alliance of the Arts' Foulds Theatre on May 29 beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be a meet and greet reception afterwards with the film's creators.
Starring Kristin Despaltro, Mot Filipowski, Adam Nee, Cosmo Pfiel, Katheryn Rossetter, Brian Slaten and Rich Sommer, "Pose Down" has been described as "a dark, offbeat dramedy." Set in the 1990s in Southwest Florida, the film revolves around three former high school classmates - The Bodybuilder, The Good Ol' Boy and The Homecoming Queen - whose lives become entangled after the airing of a tabloid news program. "Pose Down" blends the ridiculous with the sublime in this tale about a woman's unraveling life, and her attempt to "pose down" her past in order to look to a better future.
"Pose Down" features familiar Fort Myers landmarks, including storefronts and beaches.
Writer/DirectorErika Yeomans has created an extensive body of work in theater, mixed media and film. Her videos and films have won grants and screened at film festivals and art institutions around the world, including London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and Amsterdam.
