Exhibit runs all summer at Monroe Street Gallery

The Art League of Fort Myers will host an opening night reception for its "Summer Time" Fine Arts Show on Friday, June 5. The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the league gallery and gift shop located at 1451 Monroe Street in the downtown River District. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free and all are invited.

The art league reception coincides with Fort Myers Art Walk, a downtown art celebration on the first Friday of each month showcasing nine local art galleries with free refreshments and entertainment. The June 5 Art Walk will run from 6 to 10 p.m.

The "Summer Time" Fine Arts Show will showcase the multi-media work of Art League of Fort Myers members. Oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, as well as collages, mixed media, fiber works and photography will be presented — all original works of art. The show will continue during gallery hours through Aug. 29. The gallery and gift shop are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Art League of Fort Myers has been operating in the downtown Fort Myers area since 1956. The league hosts workshops, still-life painting sessions and art classes in all media, and sponsors monthly juried and judged art shows along with special exhibitions featuring well-known artists. New members are welcome. Call 275-3970 for more information or visit www.artleagueoffortmyers.org.
