PENUEL Dr. James W. Penuel Jr. of Digestive Health Physicians, P.A., has been selected by New York-based Castle Connolly Medical as one of the top doctors in Southwest Florida. This year only 110 physicians in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties were awarded this prestigious designation. Doctors do not and cannot pay to be selected and profiled as Castle Connolly Top Doctors. Honorees are, instead, selected by Castle Connolly's physician-directed research team who use a combination of telephone and direct-mail surveys of local physicians and hospital administrators to select worthy candidates.

Dr. Hussein Wafapoor of Retina Health Center has been promoted to partner, announced Dr. Alexander M. Eaton, who founded Retina Health Center in 2002. Dr. Wafapoor is board certified and has won numerous awards, including the Samuel B. Johnson Teacher of the Year Award in 2002, an Appreciation Award from the V.A. Medical Center and the 2006 American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award.
