Local radio show features interview with Cuban-born actor Andy Garcia on May 17
Andy Garcia One of Hollywood's most iconic leading men, Andy Garcia, will talk live with WGCU's Amy Tardif during Southwest Florida's popular radio callin show, "Gulf Coast Live! Arts Edition," Thursday, May 17, at noon.
Mr. Garcia is collaborating with Hilary Hemingway, a Cape Coral screenwriter, on a script for a new film about Ernest Hemingway and Cuban fishing boat captain Gregorio Fuentes. Mr. Garcia is scheduled to direct and costar in the film "Hemingway & Fuentes" about the last years of Mr. Hemingway's life when he wrote the classic novel "The Old Man and the Sea." Mr. Garcia will play Capt. Fuentes and according to UPI, Anthony Hopkins will play Hemingway.
Mr. Garcia was born in Cuban and fled to Miami in 1961 when Fidel Castro came in to power. He has starred in dozens of films including "The Untouchables," "Godfather III," "Ocean's Eleven" and "Internal Affairs." He will be joined on air by screenwriter Hilary Hemingway, niece of the late literary icon Ernest Hemingway.
"Gulf Coast Live! Arts Edition" explores the arts in Southwest Florida and brings a local connection to national arts stories. The live call-in show, produced by WGCU Public Media and hosted by FM news director Amy Tardif, airs every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m.
