Davis Center's Florida Arts Fest concludes with Latin Art Show
COURTESY PHOTO The Latin Art Show will feature the brilliant artistry of some of the finest Latin American artists. Work from the finest Latin American artists, including world famous Romero Britto, will be featured at the Latin Art Show at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. The show runs May 15-29, with an opening reception May 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. and weekday exhibit hours of noon to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Mr. Britto has donated his framed and signed piece "Kids Heart" for a silent auction at the Art Center. The auction will be held during the opening reception on May 15. He has gained worldwide fame for his eye-popping colorful portraits, sculptures and paintings, popular among art galleries and celebrities alike.
The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center has featured art inspired by Mr. Britto in past exhibitions and silent auctions. The "All Aboard Deer" piece, created by North Fort Myers High School students, was inspired by his work after a field trip to the Britto Gallery in Miami. The students' life-size deer was donated to Voices for Kids, part of the Guardian Ad Litem program for abused and neglected children, and will be auctioned off at the Latin Art Show's opening reception to benefit the program.
The exhibit will feature art from Juan Diaz, Monika Bokelmann, Cesar Aguilera, Reynier Llanes, Ernesto Masis, Uriel Parker, Javier Ampudia, Emilio Armenteros, and more. The work of these artists has been shown locally and internationally at the Von Liebig Art Center, Daas Gallery, the Jonathan Green Art Collection, in South Beach, Manhattan, and around the world. Their work showcases a variety of Latin American cultural perspectives as each artist hails from various countries throughout the region, including Cuba, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, and Colombia, among others.
