Open Mic - Sanibel poets and writers will have an open mic reading from 4-6 p.m. at The Bean on Sanibel, 2240 Periwinkle Way. Writers are invited to read and listen to original and favorite selections of poetry and prose. 472-1280.

Free Theater - More Crinoline Productions and the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will offer free theater during Art Walk, on the first Friday of every month. Students Unleashed - The Opening Reception of "Creative Students Unleashed," a high school artists show featuring visual and performing artists, will be held at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers from 5-8 p.m. There will be 50 diverse artists on display; piano performance by, Melody Cooke of Fort Myers High School and a winner in the Young Artists Awards; and stage performances by the drama students from Dunbar High School. www.artfestfortmyersinc.

Art Walk - The fifth monthly Art Walk of the year will be held from 6-10 p.m. in the downtown Fort Myers River District. The May Art Walk will feature new art exhibitions, performances by students from the Young Artists Awards Program and a free one-act play.
