Art League hosts new exhibit

The Art League of Fort Myers will host an opening night reception for its "Still Life" Fine Arts Show from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1. It will be held in the league gallery and gift shop located at 1451 Monroe St. in the downtown River District. Refreshments will be served and the 'Young Artists' Awards Students" will be the featured entertainment, performing from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free and all are invited.

The art league reception coincides with Fort Myers Art Walk, a free downtown art celebration on the first Friday of each month showcasing nine local art galleries. The May 1 walk will be from 6-10 p.m.

The "Still Life" Fine Arts Show is a judged exhibition featuring the multimedia work of artist members of the Southwest Florida Art Council. Original oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as collages, mixed media, fiber works and photography, will be presented. The show will continue during gallery hours through May 30. The gallery and gift shop are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Art League of Fort Myers has been operating in the downtown Fort Myers area since 1956. New members are always welcome.
