Legislative report on tap for next REIS meeting

State Representative Gary Aubuchon will present the 2009 Florida Legislative Report at the May 12 meeting of the Real Estate Investment Society. The presentation will focus on legislative actions and issues affecting business growth and real estate development. Representative Aubuchon is also expected to provide insight on the legislative process and ways that local organizations and governments can influence legislation.

Rep. Aubuchon will discuss impact fee reform legislation, which he sponsors, along with legislation on expedited permitting, permit and development order extensions, property tax rate cap, workers compensation reform, and growth management reform. He will also provide an overview of state budget issues and local consequences. Following the presentation, Representative Aubuchon will respond to questions of specific interest to the real estate investment and development industry.

The meeting is sponsored by MK Construction and will begin promptly at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12 in the Osprey Room at Pelican Preserve's Clubhouse, on Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers. Admission is $25 for members and $35 for guests, which includes lunch. Reservations are required by May 6 and may be made at the REIS Web site www.reis-swfl.org
