Betrayal makes for hilarious plot at Schoolhouse Theater

Playing at The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater on Sanibel, "Murder at the Howard Johnson's" opens April 9 and runs through May 2.

Arelene is a woman in an unhappy marriage. This is further complicated by the fact that she is planning, with her lover, to kill her husband in a Howard Johnson's hotel room.

The plot thickens. Unbeknownst to Arlene, her lover and husband are also plotting her demise. "Murder at the Howard Johnson's" is a comedy made up of twist and turns that will have you wondering who to believe.

Three Schoolhouse veterans make up the talented cast. Marcus Kiehl, of Los Angeles, broke audiences' hearts as the rough and tumble Ronnie Worthington in this season's hilarious "Out of Order." He has also appeared in other Schoolhouse classics such as "Run for Your Wife," "Funny Money," and "Lucky Stiff."

Matthew Edwards is also returning to Sanibel after playing the ridiculously funny Richard Wiley in "Out of Order." Audiences may remember Edwards from last season's "Caught in the Net."

Local Samantha Rotella plays the femme-fatale at the center of this plot. Rotella has entertained visitors to the theater in this season's "The Holly Jolly Follies," "Classic Broadway Abridged," and most recently, "Little Shop of Horrors."

Confusion and chaos mount as the trio engages in a hilarious all-out war of debauchery and back stabbing that will leave you rolling on the floor by the time the curtain falls.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children 16 and under. Call the Box Office at 472-6862 for tickets or visit www.TheSchoolhouseTheater.com for more information.

The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater is located at 2200 Periwinkle Way Sanibel.
