Charlotte theater group plans sale of formal wear

The Charlotte Players and Charlotte Players Kids OnStage productions will be holding their first annual Players' Closet Sale on Saturday, April 11. This unique sale of formalwear will be held at Sprinkles Ice Cream just outside of Port Charlotte Town Center Mall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. New and barely used eveningwear, including prom, wedding, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, men's suits and tuxes, and children's formal wear, will be available.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go to benefit the Charlotte Players and the Kids OnStage Summer Workshops, to make the summer programs more affordable. There will be a raffle for a gift certificate from Charlotte Bridal for a free alteration and Mother's Day pictures for the kids will be taken for $5 each. Christine Cunningham of Creations Unlimited will be donating her time and skill for this portion of the event. Contributions of spare change are encouraged for the "Pennies for Players" coin donation drive.

The public is invited to attend and enjoy the fun and a Sprinkles ice cream. The Players are now accepting clothing donations and consignment wear at the Charlotte Players administrative offices at the Charlotte Trades Center, 1225 Tamiami Trail, in Port Charlotte. For information, call (239) 255-1022. Season tickets for 2009/2010 are now available. For details, visit www.charlotteplayers. org.
