An Easter Pet Event is on tap from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 4, at Lee County Animal Services. The event will feature a Low-cost Pet Vaccination and Microchip ID Clinic, pet photos with the Easter Bunny, and a Yappy Yard Sale to benefit the Animal Care Trust Fund. A beverage and bake sale will also raise funds for the Trust. The shelter is located at 5600 Banner Drive, off Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
At the clinic, pets will receive a dog or cat distemper booster, rabies vaccine, and microchip ID for $25 plus the cost of the pet license. License fees are as follows:
. One-year license for puppies and
kittens under 1 year of age - $8
. One-year license for sterilized
pets - $8
. Three-year license for sterilized
pets - $15
. One-year license for unsterilized
pets - $35
. Three-year license for unsterilized
pets - $65
Cash will be the only accepted method of payment and pets must be leashed or confined in a carrier. Pets must receive a Microchip ID to participate in the clinic unless they are already Microchipped.
Owners can also have their pet's photo taken with the Easter Bunny and receive a photo CD from Any Occasion Photo and Videography for $10. Children are also welcome to have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny.
Before leaving the event, attendees will want to be sure they shop for a variety of items available at the Animal Care Trust Fund's second Yappy Yard Sale of 2009. All proceeds benefit the Trust which assists homeless and abused pets in Lee County, and pets of disadvantaged pet owners.
Anyone who wishes to donate household items (no clothing) for the yard sale may drop off donations at the shelter the week of March 30. Anyone who wishes to donate bottled or canned soda and water or baked good may bring them to the shelter Friday, April 2.
