Doctor speaks about positive power of the aging brain

COHEN COHEN Dr. Gene Cohen, author of "The Mature Mind: The Positive Power of the Aging Brain," will speak at BIG ARTS Tuesday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Cohen, a worldrenowned expert on all aspects of aging, is a medical doctor who holds a Ph.D. in gerontology, and is the director of the Center on Aging, Health and Humanities at George

Washington University. Within the GW Center, he launched a public education program targeting the young; called SEA Change (Societal Education about Aging for Change). He also co-founded the Creativity Discovery Corps whose mission is to identify and preserve the creative accomplishments and histories of under-recognized talented older adults. He is the founding director of a think tank — the Washington, D.C. Center On Aging — and served as the first chief of the Center on Aging of the National Institute of Mental Health.

The BIG ARTS New Frontiers lecture series also welcomes Dr. Paul Davies, Saturday, April 18. Dr. Davies will talk about his research in the origins of the universe, the origin of life, and searching for life beyond earth.
