ECHO's Farm Day coming up

All-day educational adventure set

ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) hosts its 18th annual Farm Day Saturday. March 14, from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. Enjoy unique tours, workshops, demonstrations, food and fun. It's an opportunity to learn how ECHO is meeting the challenge to reduce hunger and improve the lives of the poor worldwide.

An all-day educational adventure at ECHO's 50-acre Global Farm includes tours, a seed bank with more than 300 varieties, bamboo courtyard with 40 varieties, alternative fuel solutions and Global Hunger Forum highlights from CEO Stan Doerr.

Advance tickets are $3, and children 12 and under are admitted for free.

Tickets are available at the ECHO bookstore and gift shop, 17391 Durrance Road., North Fort Myers. Day of event tickets are $5.

Workshops include topics such as "Food Plants in the Landscape," which will demonstrate how you can easily substitute nutritious plants into your porch or backyard. Whether you have a large yard or a small patio, growing your own food is easy, affordable and beneficial in this economy.

This community event is made possible by sponsors including LCEC, Travis Reprographics, Florida Gulf Bank, First Bank, Haisman Wealth Management, Sun Harvest Citrus, Patrick's Electric, Riverland Nursery, Forestry Resources and Our Vital Earth.
