Opening event set for 'State of Abstraction: Fort Myers'

Copper by Veron Ennis Copper by Veron Ennis The Lee County Alliance for the Arts will hold an opening reception for State of Abstraction: Fort Myers on March 6, from 5-8 p.m. This exhibition, showing March 6-27, is the final part of the "Alliance Gallery Goes Abstract" series that began in January.

The exhibit will showcase works by six artists: Veron Ennis, Leo Johnson, Ray Hernandez, Jonas Sterner, Lily Hatchett and Mamie Holst.

"This show is about artists who stretch, bend and conflate the tension between fact and depiction, thereby pushing the boundaries of abstract painting today," said Curator David Hatchett.

Join the arts community at the Alliance for the Arts to discover works in the "State of Abstraction" March 6 through 27.

The Alliance for the Arts supports the artists and arts organizations in this area as the state-designated Local Arts Agency for Lee County. The Alliance for the Arts galleries are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, located at 10091 McGregor Blvd., just south of Colonial Boulevard.
