Family fun event showcases best of Lovers Key State Park Feb. 28

The group Friends of Lovers Key is planning a new family-friendly, fun-filled event at Lovers Key State Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

"Insight to the Islands" is a chance for visitors to experience all of the adventurous opportunities that Lovers Key has to offer. Guided tours will be offered throughout the day and include bike tours of the Black Island Trail, hiking programs focusing on park history and plant life, and beach walks and estuary wading tours.

All programs are free of charge, excluding the guided kayak tours that will be offered at a special rate of $10 per person (kayak included). Clinics and workshops will also be held to introduce visitors to the basics of birding, fishing, cast-netting and more. Food and beverages will be available.

Entry fee to Lovers Key State Park is $5 per family in a vehicle, $3 for a single occupant, and $1 per pedestrian or cyclist. Visit www.FriendsOfLoversKey.com.
