Cypress Lake student wins scholarship for print ad

Cypress Lake High School senior media arts major Dylan Jones won first place in a Florida regional print ad competition, and then went on to win the grand prize for the state with her take on the Florida KidCare health insurance promotion. Ms. Jones won a $5,000 college scholarship and earned $3,000 for the Media Arts Department.

"I was happily surprised to win and glad to have the scholarship money for my education," said Ms. Jones.

Junior Media Arts student Michael Wash won second place in the Florida regional competition for his eye-catching entry warning against being caught without health insurance.

Both students also won sizable gift cards to Best Buy.

Students, their parents, and Cypress Media Arts instructor Gordon Gair attended the award ceremony in Orlando on Feb. 6 at the Orange County Healthy Start Coalition.

The graphic design contest is sponsored by The Florida KidCare program whose goal is to get affordable health insurance to uninsured children and teens in Florida.
