Area ophthalmologists present study findings

EATON Dr. Alexander M. Eaton and Dr. Hussein Wafapoor of Retina Health Center recently presented results of a new research study at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Atlanta. More than 22,000 health care professionals attended the meeting.

The doctors' presentation focused on characteristics that can predict an inflammatory reaction as apposed to an infection, after cataract surgery.

"Knowledge of these findings can help to streamline therapy and improve results, so it is vital for other ophthalmologists to be aware of them," said Dr. Wafapoor.

Retina Health Center and the Macular Degeneration Research Center were established in 2002 by Dr. Eaton, a longtime Southwest Florida resident who has been practicing ophthalmology in Lee and Collier counties for more than 15 years.
