Airport traffic continues slide

Travel down 7 percent in November

SOURCE: SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SOURCE: SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT During November, 603,366 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 7.4 percent compared to November 2007. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down nearly 6.1 percent over the same period last year.

The traffic leader in November was AirTran with 104,530 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were JetBlue (80,975), Delta (68,800), Southwest (57,962) and US Airways (53,055).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 7,225 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 8.7 percent over November 2007. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 5,914 movements, a 13.8 percent decrease from November 2007. In addition, nearly 2.8 million pounds of air freight moved through both airports in November 2008.
