Pop icon Peter Max to attend Naples exhibit

COURTESY PHOTO Peter Max Pop icon Peter Max, also referred to as a Neo Fauvist, Abstract Expressionist and America's "Painter Laureate," will exhibit his retrospective work in Naples beginning Saturday, Jan. 31, with an uncrating party on Friday, Jan. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Max will make an appearance at "meet the artist" receptions and personally sign purchased artwork on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 8, from noon to 3 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public and will feature his latest works — more than 100 pieces of art, including original paintings, and etchings. The subject matter of the work ranges from the well known "Cosmic" images, to his famous iconic paintings, such as the "Statue of Liberty," and "Flag with Heart."
Mr. Max and his vibrant colors have become a part of the fabric of contemporary culture. He has paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide. Having painted portraits of the last six U.S. presidents and various heads of state, Max's exhibition of presidential portraits and other works will be featured at the Clinton Library in Arkansas over President's Weekend, Feb. 16, following his Naples appearance.
In addition to his work on canvas, Mr. Max's more recent visions have been seen on a Boeing 777 Continental Airlines jet, across a 600-foot stage for the Woodstock Music Festival, on the covers of the Verizon New York City yellow and white pages, and on a giant mural unveiled at the 2002 Winter Olympics. He has been designated Official Artist of five Super Bowls, six Grammy Awards, World Cup USA, The World Series, The United Nations Earth Summit, and numerous other events.
