Bonita Bay Group leads United Way giving
Employees and firm donate nearly $450,000
Bonita Bay Group employees pledged $222,826 to the United Way of Lee County, and Bonita Bay Group Chairman David Lucas continued a corporate tradition by personally matching the funds dollar for dollar. The $445,652 gift pushes Bonita Bay Group's contributions to United Way to more than $5 million since 1990.
Forty-six percent of Bonita Bay Group's employees contributed to the campaign. Only Publix Supermarkets has made a larger corporate contribution this year.
"Bonita Bay Group is one of United Way's strongest corporate partners," said United Way President Cliff Smith. "The support starts at the top with David Lucas' commitment to community stewardship and giving employees the opportunity to help. He attends meetings with all employees to explain how their dollars help their neighbors. To have him personally match employee contributions this year is nothing short of phenomenal."
The volunteer-driven United Way of Lee County, which also provides for services to residents of Hendry and Glades counties, helps support the work of 70 human services agencies that served more than 300,000 people
in Lee County
last year. All money raised in the United Way campaign stays in the local community to
support the
human-services
network of partner agencies. For more information, call 433-2000, or visit www.unitedwaylee. org.
