Caregiver support group meets monthly on Sanibel Island

The Dubin Alzheimer's Resource offers a monthly support group meeting for caregivers of individuals with memory impairment. Typically, the group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, 2050 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

Due to holiday scheduling, the December meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 2:30 p.m. The January meeting will be held on Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m.

The caregivers support group meetings include an opportunity for caregivers to meet others who are facing similar challenges and to learn more about Alzheimer's disease and effective coping strategies. Informational material about memory impairment, caregiving issues, and community resources is also available at the meetings. Caregivers who are caring for loved ones with other illnesses are also welcome to attend.

A caring and compassionate staff member of the Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center is available at each meeting to facilitate discussion and provide valuable information for caregivers.
