New physicians join Lee Memorial
Lee Memorial Health System announced the following physicians joined the medical staff last month: Ihsan Alsalman, D.O. - Emergency medicine, obtained his osteopathic degree from Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine. City TV station moves to new channel
The City of Fort Myers television station has moved from Comcast Channel 12 to Comcast Channel 98 as of Dec. 16. All existing customers will continue to view the government channels on the basic lineup tier and will not require any additional equipment. Full Story

Homeless Coalition holds candlelight vigil
In 2008, at least 15 homeless individuals lost their lives while living on the streets or in shelters in Lee County. Support group helps those dealing with Alzheimer's disease
A support group specifically for individuals coping with a diagnosis of early stage Alzheimer's disease or other related dementia is offered by the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center. Each group meets for eight sessions over a period of three months. Full Story
Caregiver support group meets monthly on Sanibel Island
The Dubin Alzheimer's Resource offers a monthly support group meeting for caregivers of individuals with memory impairment. Flat tire - It could be a scam
The Lee County Sheriff's Office asks that everyone be extra vigilant while walking through parking lots this holiday season. The sheriff's office has been notified of incidents involving six senior citizens who have discovered flat tires upon returning to their vehicles after shopping. The tires are deflated by someone removing the valve-stem core from the tire. Full Story
