Art League hosts 'Bring in the New' exhibit

The Art League of Fort Myers will host an opening night reception for its "Bring in the New" Fine Arts Show on Friday, Jan. 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the league gallery and gift shop at 1451 Monroe Street in the downtown River District. Admission is free.

"Bring in the New" Fine Arts Show is a judged collection featuring the multimedia work of members who belong to the Art League of Fort Myers. Artists will display their latest oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as collages, mixed media, fiber works and photography— all original works of art. The show will continue during gallery hours until Jan. 30. The gallery and gift shop are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This year's "Bring in the New" Fine Arts Show reception will be part of the Fort Myers Art Walk, a free downtown art celebration on the first Friday of each month that features 11 art galleries. January's Art Walk will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Art League of Fort Myers has been operating in the downtown Fort Myers area since 1956. The league hosts workshops, still-life painting sessions and art classes in all media, and sponsors monthly juried and judged art shows along with special exhibitions featuring well-known artists. New members are always welcomed. Call 275-3970 for more information or visit the league's Web site at www.artleagueoffortmyers. org
