O negative blood needed
Florida's Blood Centers is asking for donations immediately for all blood types, but especially O negative. O negative is the universal donor type of blood and is used in emergency and trauma situations. Increased hospital usage has greatly depleted the supply of O negative. Each donation will likely be transfused into a patient in a local hospital within 48 hours. Every donor is very important to the blood supply.
Giving blood is simple and takes less than an hour. Every donor receives a miniphysical and a screening with each donation. Giving blood is a great way to give back to the community and to the lives of people in need.
The public is encouraged to call 1-888- 9DONATE for center locations to make a donation. Check out eligibility questions at www.floridasbloodcenters.org.
